WARDOGS HQ devlog
Notes from building HQ, newest first. Each entry says what changed and why it matters in a match.
HQ is on itch.io
WARDOGS HQ has a page on itch.io now. It is the same desktop installer you get from the desktop page, in one more place. If HQ has saved you an alt-tab or two, a rating there helps other squads find it.
Nothing changes about how the app works. It is still a normal window over the game that never reads or modifies game memory, and the web tools still need no account.
Progression tracking, reusable room plans and terrain
HQ can now track the role progression it observes, so you can see where you stand without keeping notes. Room plans can be reused between sessions, which means the mortar positions you worked out last night are still there tonight.
Sell-back prices you check are recorded, and terrain can be inspected alongside artillery planning. Account renewal, room privacy, reconnects and background activity all got more reliable.
A full pass over every page
Every page, the service behind it and the website were gone over end to end. Squad voice keeps each room's channel strictly its own and requires an encrypted connection to your server.
The app no longer treats a failed update check as good news, Refresh friends really refreshes, and a dozen smaller controls now do what their label says.
One-press voice for squads with their own server
Squads that run a TeamSpeak 6 server or a Matrix homeserver get the same one-press voice the war room already had with Discord. Link the server once on the Account page, press Voice, and everyone gets the channel.
1.4.0 required that server to sit on port 80 or 443. That rule was wrong for most real setups, so 1.4.1 removed it the same day: HQ reaches your server on whatever port it already uses. The map is sharper, Zestafona joined the maps, and every page was checked at the smallest window size.
HQ updates itself
When a new version is out, a pill appears in the top bar. One click installs it and the app comes back up on the new version.
Alongside that came a reliability pass on the war room feed, the game-account link, the players list and how the app keeps you signed in.
Clearer account linking and an honest loadout builder
Connecting your game account now tells you exactly what it is waiting for, connects on its own the moment it can, and holds through play.
The loadout builder always shows what it did and why, the map stops piling markers on top of each other, and every number the app shows is one it can stand behind.
Where to follow
Releases are announced in the Discord and on r/GetWardogsHQ_, and the desktop app updates itself. The page on itch.io carries the same notes.
